my story
Innovative. Passionate. Exquisite. Unique. Inspirational. Loving. The words before this describes Telisa Franklin. …And yes she came out of Douglass. Telisa is an entrepreneur, floral designer and motivational speaker Franklin stepped into her entrepreneurial destiny 11 years ago with the opening of That’s Love Florist. Three businesses and two talk shows later, she is a one to watch on the success radar.
A graduate of Craigmont High School and the granddaughter of a pastor, she credits much of her success to her faith. “If it were not for my grandfather teaching me to choose God first, to work hard,” she said, “I am not sure where I would be or what I would be doing now.” She also credits much of her success to Bust-A-Move Monday (BAMM) as this initiative help to turn her business to super thriving through the support of church and community. In addition to That’s Love Florist, she also owns That’s Love and the Royal Pavilion Event facilities. She is the hostess of two talk shows in Memphis1600am and 1380am, "The Telisa Franklin Show."
In her spare time, Franklin motivates youth to dream big and work hard with the production of the “Prom Show Expo.” The expo is a trade show that exposes high school students to the excitement of preparing for school proms, graduation, college and career training. Telisa believes children have an opportunity to be successful in life, but the leaders of today must prepare them for tomorrow’s destiny. Recently, Telisa organized Memphis Youthful Praise of Douglass. This group is geared toward Christian youth while opening a venue to promote positive activity for all youth and young adult of her hometown community.
